That Kind of Week

I decided 2 weeks ago that we really needed to start menu planning again in an effort to save money. That worked great for 2 weeks... This week I planned my menu using what we had at home because I knew I would not have time for a grocery run until Friday afternoon. Well, my week didn't quite turn out like I'd planned. We've had SO much going on with Jay's softball games, extra hours at work and the rest of life that our menu didn't quite turn out like I'd planned this week. I thought I'd take this time to share my PLANNED menu and our ACTUAL menu... Enjoy!

Planned:
Monday: Chicken sandwiches and chips (before Jay's game)
Tuesday: Grilled Chicken, rice and green beans
Wednesday: whatever was provided at church
Thursday: Breakfast
Friday: Grilled Hamburgers
Saturday: no plan
Sunday: eat out as usual

ACTUAL:
Monday: Jay ~ chicken tenders and chips (we had no bread for a sandwich)
Michelle ~ soda crackers with melted cheese - this was all I had the energy to make
Tuesday: Chinese Take out
Wednesday: at church ~ pork roast, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas and peach cobbler
Thursday: Jay is picking up hot wings as I type
Friday: Maybe that grilled chicken from Tuesday???
Saturday: Maybe I'll actually cook a meal
Sunday: out with the gang

AND there you have it. Our crappy diet for the week, but tomorrow is grocery day and we'll be eating on a menu plan next week... NO EXCUSES!!!

Hair!

I've been trying something new with my hair this week. I've been wearing it "natural", that's a bit misleading, but I'm using my natural curl and just enhancing it a little. Here are a few picts. so that you can tell me what you like better... Please be kind.

This is my "straight" hair. It's much longer now though.

This is a more recent "straight" hair picture.

This is the curly version... What do you think?

I know what you're thinking -- she really needs to do something about those roots. I agree, but our entire budget is going to gas and groceries now so there's no extra money for color...

Go figure!!!

Back to Menu Plan Monday!

It's been months since I did a menu plan, but with the cost of groceries going up and my budget getting tighter by the minute we are back to menu planning and smart shopping. So, here's our menu for the week. Remember that you can check out Laura for more ideas.
Monday ~ Something quick and on my own. Jay has a softball game.
Tuesday ~ Something else quick and on my own or something quick after Jay's softball game.
Wednesday ~ We eat at church (hey, give me a break -- staff eats free and Jay's is only $5)
Thursday ~ Meat Loaf, Black-eyed Peas, Rice and bread of some sort
Friday ~ Grilled chicken, Baked Potatoes and Salad (maybe a dessert)
Saturday ~ We're going to the Braves game -- so over priced stadium food it is!!!
Sunday ~ We'll eat out after church (this is a must)
Hope you all have a GREAT week!!!

Finally Spring!!

I'm so glad that the temperature has warmed up outside and I have finally been able to wear sandals and some of my summer clothes!!! I noticed this week that my yard is starting to come alive. Here are a few of the beautiful flowers that have started to bloom. We'll be planting our annuals pretty soon!!! I love this time of year when we can make the outside of the house look so pretty and colorful.

Chops Busted!!!

My good friend, Jessica, has called me out and busted my chops for not blogging. So, I've updated my blog's look and promise to blog, no matter how boring life seems... But, for now supper is ready and I must eat.

Wow!!

Here are a few pictures of the hail that was in our yard after the storms on Saturday. We were very lucky that we didn't have any damage and no tornadoes...

This is our backyard -- in Jackson's pen!

Backyard -- looking out the kitchen window!!

A few of Jay's "prize" hail stones...

And of course I can't let you visit without showing off my babies...

BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTER

by Maya Angelou

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.
'When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin''
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I' m found and forgiven.
'When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain...
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!'
I received this by email this week from Jodi and it just really touched my heart. Often times we are boasting and bragging and trying to be strong when we announce that we are Christians and this really gave me a new perspective. I hope you enjoy it and that it touches your heart.
